Youtube sensation, Moriah Rose Pereira, who’s professional name is Poppy, released her second full-length album entitled, Am I a Girl? The record features a song, “Play Destroy,” in which Poppy collaborated with Canadian pop singer, Grimes. Today, according to Spin, Billboard published an interview where Poppy accuses Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, of “bullying.” In the interview, Poppy also spoke out about the experience working with Grimes, expressing that, “It’s really upsetting to work with a female that is very outward about a topic, but behind closed doors, it’s the complete opposite”
Additionally, during the recording session of “Play Destroyer,” Poppy witnessed Grimes “bullying” the team behind the music. This included the songwriters and “forcing them to sign NDA agreements, which are essentially a form of a confidentiality agreement”
“I was kind of bullied into submission by [Grimes] and her team of self-proclaimed feminists,” she says. “We planned the song coming out months ago, and she was preventing it. I got to watch her bully songwriters into signing NDA and not taking credit for songs that they were a part of. She doesn’t practice what she preaches. It’s really upsetting to work with a female that is very outward about a topic, but behind closed doors, it’s the complete opposite. It’s actually very disheartening to people that are actually feminists and supporters of other females.”
Grimes, a pop star who is known for creating and experimenting with pop sounds would appear to be the sound choice in creating good music with. According to Poppy, the song in which the two collaborated on which is a favorite on the album even with the behind-the-scenes trouble and process, according to Poppy, one “could have gone without.”
Earlier this week, Grimes released her song, “We Appreciate Power,” which is going to be off her untitled fifth studio album. which is yet to have a release date. She has yet to make any comments on Poppy’s accusations.

UPDATE (12/10): According to Brooklyn Vegan, singer Grimes, has responded to Poppy’s accusations in a now deleted Instagram story. In her social media story, Grimes expressed to the Youtube singer directly saying that, “Poppy, you dragged me into a disgusting situation and won’t stop punishing me for not wanting to be a part of it. I don’t want to work with you, you leaked the song anyway,” the statement continues. “U got what you want. Let it go.”
The singer continued by expressing that, “I feel stupid responding, I hate tabloidy drama, I’ll delete this shortly but just defending myself. Would love if we could all just get back to work.”
