One of the largest music festivals in Europe, the Sziget Festival, has begun to announce its upcoming 2019 lineup. This event is rather unique in that it spans an entire week and encompasses an incredibly diverse range of acts. The 2018 Sziget Festival brought around half a million tourists to the Hungarian city of Budapest, a number that rivals some of the biggest music events in history. Set for August 7-13 2019, the upcoming year’s festival is set to be one of the biggest yet. The initial lineup is set to include music titans, Foo Fighters and Florence + The Machine.
Foo Fighters are set to be a major attraction to the festival in 2019, with the band set to be one of the largest acts at the festival. Some of Foo Fighters more well known songs include the hits “Everlong” and “Learn to Fly.” The band released their most recent album, Concrete and Gold, in 2017. The album was supported by hit songs “The Sky is a Neighborhood” and “Run.” Their performance on the final day of the festival, Tuesday the 13th, will be one of the finales of the week and will most likely include a mix of old and new material. The group Chvrches is also set to perform at the next festival; following the release of their newest album Love is Dead. The album is going to be supported by their upcoming tour this winter, and was followed by a Hansa Sessions EP with reworked versions of many of the songs. They are going to perform on Thursday, August 8th.
Florence + The Machine are another major act set to perform in Budapest next summer. The group released their newest album, High as Hope, earlier in 2018. It was well received and included powerful songs, such as the ballad “Hunger.” They have continued to wow audiences with each release, and are going to be a huge attraction at the festival. Another major act coming off a 2018 album release is Twenty One Pilots. They recently debuted their newest project, Trenches, in early October. The album was met with praise by fans and many in the music industry, as many saw it as a revitalized performance from the group. The songs “Jumpsuit” and “Morph” were outstanding songs from the album, both exemplifying some of the best qualities of Twenty One Pilots. Their set at next year’s festival will be one of the highlights of the week. All in all, the Sziget Festival is sure to have another enormous year and draw visitors from across Europe and the rest of the world.
