Refused and The Hives have announced a joint tour in North America, dubbed as the Official Swedish Scream Team 2019 Tour. The venture will kick off May 18th in Philadelphia and will hit a few more stops along the way including Chicago, St. Louis, Lawrence and Denver before concluding in Salt Lake City at the Union Event Center. See the list of tour dates below. According to the PRP, Refused made a statement regarding the tour, specifying that it has been 20 years since the band has toured together. “Last time we did a tour together was in 1998! A lifetime ago. This will be nothing short of amazing chaos to come. It’ll be a boat short of a Viking invasion. See you next year America.”
Refused were recently announced to play the 2019 Punk Rock Bowl in Las Vegas, NV Memorial Day weekend alongside Rancid, The Descendants, The Specials and fellow tour mates The Hives. The festival will also include bowling, poker tournaments, pool parties, and many more.
Frontman Dennis Lyxzén recently sat down with mxdwn and mentioned that a potential new Refused album is in the works. “We started the process of writing new material. It’s early on, but it’s happening. I don’t think there will be new music from Refused until at least next fall. It is in the early stages, but there are a bunch of songs written, stuff that has been recorded and [we’re] feeling out where the music will take us.”
UPDATE(02/06): The tour is making its way to the west coast. They have announced two additional dates to their tour in Pomona and San Diego, CA. According to the PRP, it has also been announced that Bleached will be opening for both bands through the duration of the tour. See the full list of dates below.
