It has been 10 years since the extreme metal band Venom came together. The trio is celebrating by releasing a brand new studio album entitled Storm The Gates, a follow-up to their 2015’s From The Very Depths. The record, which will contain 13 tracks and is set to grace record stores and all digital sites on December 14th via Spinefarm Records. The band is also going to release a deluxe double vinyl package of Storm The Gates sometime in 2019.
To kick off the countdown to the album’s release, Cronos, Dante and Rage (the current members who make up Venom) has unleashed the first single off the record called “Bring Out Your Dead.” The song can be streamed down below.
“We always say that a song has to find itself, has to develop,” exclaims Cronos. “We’ve had nearly three years with these compositions, speeding some up, slowing some down, changing the lyrics, adding breaks, moving verses… that’s how songs grow, and that’s how you end up writing a better album. That’s why I don’t believe in releasing a record every year – you can’t possibly have let those songs develop to their full potential. These albums are going to be around a lot longer than I am, so they need to be able to stand up for themselves. With an album every year, I think you end up with two or three good songs and then a load of shit, and I certainly don’t want to release that sort of album!”
According to the press release, the new incarnation of Venom “refuse to compromise or waiver in their beliefs, building on the signature style and sound established by Cronos back in 1979. As both artist and producer, this iconic frontman — and Venom’s beating black heart — effectively opened the gates (of hell) for a whole new brand of metal, genuinely changing the game with an intensity never before seen or heard.” The members that make up the band now have continued the Venom brand showing fans both new and old that they know who they are and they are here to stay.
