Kanye West and Kim Kardashian-West donated $500,000 to wildfire relief in Northern California, according to Consequence of Sound. Kardashian-West appeared on Ellen to gift this donation, going to both organizations and individuals directly affected by the fires.
While their family’s home was unaffected by the fire, they have decided to help others who were not as fortunate. They donated $200,000 each to the California Community Foundation’s Wildlife Relief Fund and the California Fire Foundation, according to TMZ.
Kardashian-West also presented a $100,000 check to Michael and Lisa Williams, a couple who lost their home in the blaze but but continued with relief efforts to help their neighbors in need. As Kardashian-West explained, the donations were a gift from Kanye, his company Yeezy, and adidas.
Kanye has been partnering with adidas since 2013, according to RunRepeat. Adidas allowed Kanye full design control over the shoe design, as well as royalties from sales. Check out all of Kanye’s adidas collaboration on RunRepeat here.
It seems that Kanye is on a philanthropic streak, having donated just last week to the family of Jemel Roberson, the Chicago security guard who was wrongfully murdered by police. Kanye donated $150,000 to Roberson’s family in $15,000 installments via GoFundMe.
The Wests are the latest celebrities to donate to wildfire relief, joining Metallica, Lady Gaga, Dave Grohl and more in relief efforts. Some, including Miley Cyrus and Neil Young, lost their homes in the fires.
