Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen and former bandmate Paul Barker have officially buried the hatchet and rekindled their friendship, according to The PRP. While speaking to Billboard, Jourgensen spoke of this reestablished friendship with Barker, and what may come next for them.
“We’re actually talking about doing something in the very near future. So who knows what may pop up on the next Ministry album. That’s really gonna get the old school crowd going. I just got off the phone with him, in fact,” Jourgensen said.
This news follows Jourgensen and Chris Connelly, another former Ministry bandmate, announcing they have gotten back on friendly terms as well. His reconciliations with these former bandmates seem to follow Jourgensen, Barker and Connelly working on the “Industrial Accent: The Story of Wax! Records” documentary together.
“These people I haven’t dealt with or seen in years are becoming a prevalent part of my life again,” Jourgensen said. “…It’s like riding a bike. You know how to do it. It was something that was long overdue on both his part and my part. A lot of external factors — whether it be management, previous relationships, ex-wives, things like that — is what interfered with this partnership continuing. I think all the barriers have just dissipated through the process of time and healing. I think there could really be something to this.”
Ministry is currently working on a new album, as well as embarking on a U.S. tour later this month. They will be performing their latest album, AmeriKKKant, in full each night, in addition to celebrating the 30th anniversary of their album The Land of Rape and Honey.
