Gary Clark Jr. @ The Met 3/29

Austin native and blues musician Gary Clark Jr. has announced some big plans for next year. First, there is a yet to be named album expected early after the new year, which will be followed by a North American tour. The tour makes him the next act to be billed for the newly renovated Met which is creeping closer and closer to its grand opening early in December. Clark’s show is billed for Friday, March 29th.

There is not much known about the new album, and we are yet to receive any singles off of it. It will be his first studio release since his 2015 The Story of Sonny Boy Slim. On the topic of his next project, Clark stressed his focus on the drums, stating that “If the drums aren’t poppin’, you’re wasting your time”. He has also hinted that it will be more oriented towards modern day issues and controversies, including politics than most of his previous work.

Clark is one of today’s shining stars in the shrinking field of popular blues musicians. He continues to show off his incredible talent alongside a wide variety of musicians, from old school blues legends like B.B. King and Eric Clapton, to rappers like Childish Gambino. The show will undoubtedly be a great one, and tickets are on sale now.
