Deer Tick Shares Two New Tracks Including a Cover of The Pogues “White City”

Accompanying their 2017 record Deer Tick Vol. 1 & 2, folk rock and Americana outfit Deer Tick had announced that they will be releasing Mayonnaise a collection of covers and unreleased originals. After unveiling their cover of George Harrison’s “Run of the Mill” last month, they have released two more singles; one original and another cover.

The original is titled “Strange, Awful Feeling,” an easy-on-the-ears harmonic cut that invokes a feeling quite the opposite of strange or awful. The cover is a song called “White City,” a track from Celtic punk band The Pogues’ 1989 record Peace and Love. Like “Run of the Mill,” it’s a faithful rendition of the original, recreating the thrashy energy of a punk band in the 2 and half minute runtime.

Mayonnaise is due to be out on February 1st, 2019. Other covers from the record will include tracks by the likes of the Velvet Underground and Ben Vaughan.
