In an era when it seems that festivals have reached their peak and have even begun to see some pushback, there are still new ones being announced every year. Melted Festival is one such example as they’ve announced the first artists of its inaugural 2019 lineup. It’s gearing up to be a psych-heavy affair, with the biggest names being Ty Segall & White Fence, Kikagaku Moyo and Black Lips. Other noteworthy performers include Deerhoof, Cherry Glazerr, Ma Halos and DANA.

Melted Festival will take place on Sunday, February 24, 2019. It’ll be held at The Bluestone in Columbus, OH, which is an old 19th century Baptist church that’s been repurposed as a music venue. The event is produced by Nelsonville Music Festival and Archie Fox Live.

Ty Segall has had a busy year, and his collaboration with White Fence is just one element of it. Their album Joy, which is the second LP released as pairing, was released earlier this year. Segall started off the year by releasing Freedom’s Goblin, a strong entry into his storied discography. Then he released Joy with White Fence (aka Tim Presley of Nerve Agents and Darker My Love), then an album with his band GØGGS (a collaboration with Ex-Cults), an off-the-wall covers album called Fudge Sandwich , limited cassette release called Orange Rainbow, and finally, a new album with his wife Denee under the moniker The CIA.

It’s not like Tim Presley hasn’t had an extremely busy 2018 either. In addition to his work under the White Fence moniker with Segall, he also released a new album with his sometimes-musical-partner Cate Le Bon under the moniker DRINKS. Their excellent second studio album was called Hippo Lite, and expect to see it on a lot of year-end best-of lists.

Black Lips haven’t been making as much noise lately. They did release an LP in 2017, Satan’s Graffiti or God’s Art. Otherwise, they’ve mostly been road warriors, pairing up with two solid bands for co-headlining dates – first The Black Angels and then Iceage.
