American synthewave band The Black Queen launched their October 31st show in Oslo, Norway by channeling the Halloween spirit. The group dressed up in corpse paint and looped footage of the “Dancing Pumpkin Man,” for their backdrop.
The band also performed a cover version of “Attitude,” originally performed by the legendary punk band Misfits. “We had so much fun that we just might do it again tonight in Stockholm(minus the makeup),” the band said in a social media post.”
While the group is known for performing synth based and electronic music, the band’s members stem from numerous genres. Lead vocalist Greg Puciato was the former lead singer for metalcore band The Dillinger Escape Plan and serves as the lead singer to heavy metal outfit Killer Be Killed, Joshua Eustis serves as part of the electronic music act Telefon Tel Aviv, and was a former member of Nine Inch Nails, while Steven Alexander served as The Dillinger Escape Plan’s, Nine Inch Nail’s former technician.
The band released their sophomore Infinite Games in September of this year. According to mxdwn.com’s Joseph Shigematsu Infinite Games “demonstrates an injection of maturity, seriousness and technical growth for the group. The industrial pop-flavored alternative R&B the group delivers is darker, colder and yet more emotional.”
Puciato has stated that he will return to work with Killer Be Killed once his time frees up after touring with The Black Queen. Back in October the singer stated that he had numerous demos recorded for the album.
“We have 10 songs that are demos, and how we proceed from here is more of a matter of scheduling and whether we agree if those ten songs are enough or if we need to write more,” Puciato revealed. “We have not had those conversations really because we are all busy as fuck on our other things.”
In addition, the singer explained that he was open to working with his former band, The Dillinger Escape Plan again in the future. “I actually just talked to Ben for the first time since we broke up. I got off the phone with him right before doing this interview actually! I’m feeling pretty fucking good, man, all things considered,” Puciato explained. “And look, time just passes. I don’t know who I said this too, but I would be doing the exact same thing if the band hadn’t broken up.”
