mxdwn PREMIERE: Sasquatch Release Righteously Heavy Cover of Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2” for The Wall [Redux]

We’re just a few weeks away from the November 9 release of The Wall [Redux], a front-to-back remake of Pink Floyd’s iconic album featuring artists like Pallbearer and Mark Lanegan. Today we’re excited to premiere the latest track to be released from the record, Sasquatch’s cover of “Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2.”

The track takes on a pummeling nature in the hands of Sasquatch, dropping a heavy dose of their stoner metal sound on the classic rock radio staple. Gone are the funky staccato guitar stabs of the original, replaced by tons of low end and a soulful organ arrangement. Vocalist Keith Gibbs provides an impassioned performance, his throaty growl clear to understand throughout the metal tour-de-force and Craig Riggs and Jason Casanova drop a whole lot of groove into the song’s already funky arrangements.

The Los Angeles band has been active for almost two decades and most recently released an album in 2017. Their fifth full-length, it’s titled Maneuvers.

The Wall [Redux] is a project from Magnetic Eye Records and was funded by a Kickstarter campaign. The artist list is heavily skewed towards psych/stoner rock, with some of the best in the genre like Yawning Man, Ruby The Hatchet, ASG, Greenleaf and more. The record gets off to a killer one-two punch of a start, with Melvins covering “In The Flesh?” and labelmates Low Flying Hawks taking on “The Thin Ice.”
