War On Women @ Brooklyn Bazaar 11/08

Hardcore punks War On Women have announced a special acoustic show at Brooklyn Bazaar on November 8 in celebration of their upcoming acoustic EP, Live at Magpie Cage, set to release in November. The 5-song EP features acoustic covers of songs from their repertoire, including “Predator In Chief” which is currently available for streaming and “Servilia.” They will also perform alongside All Torn Up, Counterpunch, and Good Riddance. The feminist group have most recently put out their sophomore album, Capture The Flag, which dropped earlier this year. The album maintains the band’s tackling of difficult and pressing issues taking place today, from racial injustices to gun violence to sexism.

The Baltimore-based War On Women have been an unstoppable force in the punk sphere since stepping out into the scene in 2010 and dropping their self-titled 2015 debut album. They’re known for tackling issues plaguing the US and the world in an uncompromising and raw way. The band takes their activism from the stage to the streets as frontwoman Shawna Potter has been a prolific activist for many years. She has worked on campaigns to stop harassment, particularly street harassment which she has written a book on, set to release next year. The band’s songs have even started being used for teaching in some colleges which inspired the band to create a 16-page workbook. It uses each song of Capture The Flag to explain the political and social issues being discussed in the song.

Celebrate War On Women’s acoustic EP release at Brooklyn Bazaar this November with All Torn Up, Counterpunch, and Good Riddance.
