The UK’s annual Download Festival has announced its 2019 lineup. The lineup boasts an eclectic lineup featuring Slipknot, Tool, and Def Leppard set to headline the three-day festival, with Def Leffard playing their album Hysteria in its entirety. The festival will commence June 14-16th at the Donington Park in Derby, UK and according to the PRP, other acts include Slash featuring Myles Kennedy And The Conspirators, Whitesnake, Rob Zombie, Trivium, Amon Amarth, Carcass, Delain, and Die Antwoord. More acts are to be announced at a later date.
This year’s lineup featured headlining performances from Guns N’ Roses, Avenged Sevenfold and Ozzy Osbourne, also featuring Asking Alexandria, BABYMETAL, Black Veil Brides, Bodycount Ft. Ice T, Bullet For My Valentine, Dreamstate, and The Hives.
Since the festival formed in 2003, it has expanded to different cities including Paris, Madrid, Melbourne, and Sydney, Austrailia. Melbourne and Sydney’s 2019 lineups were recently revealed with Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Judas Priest, Alice in Chains, Ghost, Rise Against, The Amity Affliction, Anthrax set to play at both. Melbourne’s will commence on March 9th, and Sydney’s shortly after on March 11th. Tickets will be available via Ticketmaster for both shows.
UK’s festival headliner Slipknot recently revealed that they are in the studio and writing new material. “Right now, we have 20 songs that we’ve demoed,” he said. “And they are really, really good. So it’ll just come down to which ones come out the best, and we take that, we make the album out of that, put the album out.” That would make the release date be some time in 2019, around five years after their last album,” the band states. Fellow headliners Tool are also in the process of making a new record, with band member Maynard James Keenan tweeting out an update on the band’s upcoming fifth studio album.
UPDATE (01/28): Even more names have been added to the already staked 2019 lineup for the annual festival.
