Toro y Moi has announced their new album, Outer Peace, is set for release at the top of next year on January 18th. The new album follows their 2017 effort, Boo Boo. In a press release, Toro discusses the new album, stating that “This record is a response to how disposable culture has become and how it affects creativity,” Toro says. “While listening, you might pay attention or ignore — either way that’s ok, this is music for a creative mind.” It was written and recorded in the Bay area where the band is originally from and is inspired by Toro’s trip to Portland last year, being surrounded by nature and coming back with a different perspective. Check out the tracklist and album cover below..
The band has also released the lead single off the new album, titled “Freelance” along with its video. The video is directed by Vimeo Staff-Picked director and longtime collaborator Harry Israelson, who also shot the album cover of Boo Boo. The video shows Toro at a photo shoot while singing. Check out the video below.
They will be hitting the road next month, beginning November 1st in Santa Barabara, with other cities including two nights in Chicago, Washington D.C., two nights in San Francisco, CA and Austin, TX before concluding at the M3f festival in Phoenix, AZ. See the rest of the itinerary below.
