Music storytellers The Good, The Bad & The Queen has announced their new album, Merrie Land will be released on November 16th. The new album is the band’s second, with their last being their self-titled debut, released 11 years ago. It will contain ten tracks, and was written during the time when the UK was preparing to leave the European Union. In a press release, the new album’s “focus moves beyond GBQ’s London-themed first album to a wider land, with a beautiful and hopeful paean to the Britain of today” The new album will be available on CD, Vinyl, and limited edition green vinyl.
The limited edition deluxe CD will include a beautiful 56-page A4 hardback book, containing handpicked original and reimagined photos by Paul Simonon, sheet music, lyrics, and artwork; The Boxset will contain the above, plus heavyweight green vinyl LP, an exclusive screen print, postcards & bonus tracks. The Super Boxset offers all of the above plus a selection of coloured ribbons and a limited wood-cut print, hand printed by Paul Simonon. See the tracklist of the album below.
The band has also shared a visual for the song of the same name as the album, Merrie Land. The visual showcases what looks like a ventriloquist doll reciting the lyrics to the song as different images of black and white sceneries are displayed in the background. See the trippy new video below.
Later this year, the band will play a few shows in Europe, including Blackpool, Glasgow, and London. See the list of dates below.
