Former Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry will be coming to the newly named Franklin Music Hall, or what is commonly known as the Electric Factory. The tour follows the release of his fourth solo album Sweetzerland Manifesto this January. He will be joined on the tour by fellow Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford, and Extreme singer Gary Cherone, who also had a small stint as the lead singer of Van Halen. The short tour only includes 10 stops, but will be in Philly this December 5th at 8:00 PM. Perry has said that the tour will consist of both his latest solo work, and song from the old Aerosmith catalog.
Perry, along with Tom Hamilton, is a co-founder of the band Aerosmith and was instrumental to their crazy success in the 1970s. During his time with Aerosmith, Perry had some interesting encounters with Philadelphia on tour. Two consecutive times the band played in Philly, the shows were famously cut short due to fans tossing cherry bombs and firecrackers on stage. His tours now might not be quite as crazy, but are still an energetic time. Perry’s latest solo project is another success, hitting us with another example of the phenomenal guitar work that helped Aerosmith sell so many records. The album also features his close friend Johnny Depp, and Cheap Trick singer Robin Zander. Tickets are on sale now.
