Marcus Mumford Joins Tom Morello on Stage in Los Angeles for “Find Another Way”

Tom Morello just released his first solo album under his own name, The Atlas Underground last Friday, October 12th. In celebration of the release of he held a special show at the Teragram Ballroom on Sunday night, playing songs from the new album.

On one such song, called “Find Another Way,” Morello brought out the man who appeared on the studio recording, Marcus Mumford of Mumford and Sons. The two musicians saddled up with acoustic guitars and launched into the subdued, fingerpicked ballad. The stripped down arrangements left plenty of room for Mumford’s huge voice, which was perfectly complemented by Morello’s talents on the six string.

While Morello has relased solo albums in the past, they’ve been typically released under the name The Nightwatchman (World Wide Rebel Songs, The Fabled City and One Man Revolution). This time, the record is listed under his own name, though he does bring in a great deal of help from his friends. In addition to Mumford’s appearance on “Find Another Way,” there are appearances from Portugal. The Man, Bassnectar, Big Boi, Killer Mike, Steve Aoiki, Tim McIlrath (Rise Against), RZA, GZA, Gary Clark Jr., Vic Mensa and many others.

Morello has been busy with more than just his solo career lately. Over the last few years he has been playing with his Rage Against the Machine bandmates (minus former lead singer Zach de la Rocha) as well as Chuck D of Public Enemy and B-Real of Cypress Hill as Prophets of Rage. The band first released an EP called The Party’s Over and then a self-titled full-length album in October of 2017.

Meanwhile, Mumford & Sons are also busy this year. They recently announced the release of their upcoming fourth studio album Delta. The record will be released on November 16, 2018 on Island/Glassnote. It is the follow-up to their previous album, Wilder Mind and their 2016 EP with Baaba Maal, Johannesburg.
