FIDLAR the LA band with popular songs “Are You High” and “West Coast” have just released a new song titled, “Can’t You See” which has a smooth flow with cutting guitar rifts set against tight vocals. With lyrics like, diamond rings help me sing, Jesus Christ makes me nice. Baby can’t you see this is good for me, baby can’t you see this is what I need. Meditate you can get rick quick, don’t talk just like my shit. On the streets yeah I feel so chic, sell the jeans that I bought last week. Last week, last week, that was so last week. Now, I need a new thing.
FIDLAR just announced their new album, Almost Free, which will be released on January 25, 2019. Album pre-orders are now available here in an exclusive vinyl color and also in a bundle with an exclusive album themed shirt. All orders include a bonus 7” flexi disc of “Can’t You See” backed with the non-album track, “Are You High?”
This band is on the rise as their talent shines through and each song is just as fresh as the last. I mean their song, “Are you High?” has repeated lyrics, hello, goodbye, are you high and the video the crowd roars and jumps on stage with them. Their fans identify with their music and their songs are simple and cut to the core of raw emotions. This music makes you feel like partying the night through.
The band’s name is an acronym for Fuck It Dog, Life’s a Risk, a skate mantra gleaned from singer Zac Carper’s former roommates. Elvis Kuehn (guitar/vocals) and Max Kuehn (drums) are the sons of Greg Kuehn, keyboardist for Long Beach punk legends, T.S.O.L. While Zac Carper (vocals/guitar) is the son of famed surfboard designer John Carper. Bassist Brandon Schwartzel was Carper’s friend before joining the band. The four have been performing together as FIDLAR since 2009. Zac was born in Hawaii, while Elvis and Max are both from Los Angeles, and Brandon was born in San Diego.
Jack Saunders, BBC Radio 1 commented, “FIDLAR took three years to kind of work out their next move, and sometimes you just need a moment to realize that actually you don’t need to over-complicate things. Write what’s in front of you, write about what’s around you. “Too Real” the first new track that they dropped recently, did that and touched on what it’s like to be a young person in 2018.”
The song and album were Produced by Ricky Reed (nominated for the Grammy for Producer of the Year 2016) (Twenty One Pilots, Phantogram, Leon Bridges), Mixed by Manny Marroquin (multiple Grammy winner) (Rihanna, Imagine Dragons, Bruno Mars, Sia, Kanye West) and Mastered by Chris Gehringer (multiple Grammy nominations) (Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Twenty One Pilots, J. Balvin).
