Alternative rock band Mumford & Sons has announced that they will be embarking on a 60 date world arena tour including a stop at the Wells Fargo Center this December 12th. The tour comes along with “Guiding Light” a single released in September and the release date of their new album Delta, November 16th. In addition, American singer and songwriter Maggie Rogers will be joining the band for some of the tour, including the show here in Philly. Rogers is most well known for her hit single “Alaska”, made famous by a video of Pharrell Williams hearing it for the first time.
Mumford & Sons, named after lead vocalist and guitarist Marcus Mumford became popular in their hometown of London, England in 2008, leading to the release of three different EPs over the course of a year. It was after the release of their debut album Sigh No More that they rose to international fame for their unique fusion of alternative and folk music. The band recently introduced a new side to their music in their last album Wilder Mind, where for the first time the band strayed away from their signature acoustic sound and explored more diverse avenues. It proved to be a commercial success, becoming the top ranked album in six different countries. If their previous work is any indication, Delta the album itself, and the tour that ensues will be absolutely can’t miss material out of Mumford & Sons.
