Following the release of “Loading Zones” and “Bassackwards,” Kurt Vile has released the third single off of his upcoming album Bottle It In, titled “One Trick Ponies.” The relaxing, lighthearted country-rock tune features Vile on harmonica, guitar, and piano, with Warpaint’s Stella Mozgawa and Farmer Dave Scher adding their distinctive voices to the chorus.
Bottle It In is Vile’s first record in three years, recorded at various studios around the country and in impromptu sessions at Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, Connecticut, with Peter Katis engineering and producing.
Vile is also kicking off a worldwide tour on October 12th in Hamburg, following his appearance at the New Yorker Festival on October 6th. He will return to the U.S. in late November for a long spate of dates through the holidays, with the tour picking up again in February 2019.
The former lead guitarist of rock band The War on Drugs, Vile is now accompanied on stage and in studio by his backing band, The Violators, which currently includes Jesse Trbovich (bass, guitar, saxophone), Rob Laakso (guitar, bass) and Kyle Spence (drums). Vile has recorded seven studio albums to date, including 2017’s Lotta Sea Lice, a collaborative effort with Australian singer and guitarist Courtney Barnett.
