Grammy-nominated artist Anderson .Paak has shared the first official single titled “Tints” feat. Kendrick Lamar from his upcoming album Oxnard. The track, produced by Om’Mas Keith and .Paak, premiered on Zane Lowe’s Apple Music’s Beats 1 show.
.Paak and Kendrick have collaborated with each other before, featuring on Dr. Dre’s Compton track “Deep Water” in 2015 . Paak appeared on “Bloody Waters” from the Lamar-curated Black Panther: The Album.
According to an interview with Rolling Stone, Dr. Dre is executive-producing the album, which will feature appearances by J. Cole and Pusha-T, with Madlib producing. Paak told Rolling Stone that Oxnard is “the album I dreamed of making in high school.” Back in September, .Paak and Lamar posted photos on social media teasing the upcoming news of their collaborative project on October 4.
Under the pseudonym Breezy Lovejoy, .Paak released his debut album, O.B.E. Vol. 1 in 2012. 2014 brought the release of Venice, the first record under his current name, followed up by Malibu in 2016, which received a nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the Grammy Awards. Paak is also one-half of NxWorries, alongside record producer Knxwledge. He is backed by the band The Free Nationals, who play a variety of instruments and also provide backing vocals.
Anderson will also be playing a benefit show for Mac Miller for the ‘Mac Miller Circles Fund’ on October 31 at The Greek Theater in LA.
