Thom Yorke released a second track from his upcoming album Suspiria. This track, titled “Has Ended,” follows the release of “Suspirium,” which was described by the rolling Stone as “peak Yorke, and scary good.” “Has Ended” features Thom’s son, Noah Yorke, on the drums. The upcoming album will be used to score Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming film. It will be his third solo album and his fifth time creating music for film. The song can be listened to in the player below. “Has Ended” is very synth heavy as the background beat starts off the song and remains prevalent throughout, which is a major change of pace compared to the light hearted piano and vocals that were matched in “Suspirium.” The lyrics are scattered and distorted throughout the song. The video that goes along with “Has Ended” is a continuous creation of shapes that goes through a great deal of shapes and surroundings. The song can be listened to in the player below.
The album will consist of 25 original compositions written by Thom specifically for Guadagnino’s film. It will be a mix of instrumental score work and traditional song structures featuring Thom’s vocals. Scoring a horror film presented Yorke with new challenges and opportunities, which caused Suspiria to stand apart from his other works. The setting of the film heavily influenced the albums sound, which consist of melodies that convey terror, longing and melancholy to create a chaotic yet cohesive musical spell. The upcoming album is set to release October 26.
