Fresh off the heels of his Saturday Night Live Performance Kanye has made waves again by posting a picture of himself to Instagram praising President Trump and wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat. The post drew a quick response, including singer Lana Del Ray, who called the rapper out in a comment on his post.
According to an article from Pitchfork, Del Rey told the rapper that his support of Trump was a loss for the culture and criticized West for his “narcissism”. Del Rey also compared the two for their personalities, saying that they both have “Delusion of Grandeur”. She ends her comment by saying that if West agrees with Trump he may need an intervention.
Read her full comment below:
“Trump becoming our president was a loss of the country but your support of him is a loss for the culture. I can only assume you relate to his personality on some level. Delusions of Grandeur, extreme issues with narcissism – none of which would be a talking point if we weren’t speaking about the man leading our country.
If you think it’s alright to support someone who believes that it’s OK to grab a woman by the pussy just because he’s famous – then you need an intervention as much as he does- something so many narcissists will never get because there just isn’t enough help for the issue.”
This is not the first time that West has come out in support of Trump. After his performance on Saturday Night Live, the rapper launched into a speech supporting Trump after the show went off the air, earning himself boos from the crowd.
He was also photographed wearing a MAGA hat with a sweater bearing the name of Quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
This most recent controversy comes right after West delayed the release of his most recent album Yandhi, which was supposed to drop after his performance on SNL. Instead, his wife Kim Kardashian West announced that the album’s release was pushed back to November 23.
Del Rey also had some album news recently as she released a new single, “Venice Bitch” off her new album Norman Fucking Rockwell. When defending the ten-minute track to her managers she said: “some people just wanna drive around for 10 minutes, get lost in some electric guitar.”
This is the second song that Del Rey has released off the forthcoming album. The first single is titled “Mariners Apart Complex” and is a collaboration with Jack Antonoff of the band Bleachers.
With both Del Rey and West busy working on new music it’s hard to say if Del Rey’s comment will go anywhere. Or if West will be willing to consider her words. In any event fans of both artists have a lot to look forward to in the coming months.
