Fucked Up shared their new video for “Accelerate,” from their upcoming Dose Your Dreams album. Directed by the group’s Mike Haliechuk, the video’s subject is man named David who is bored of and beaten down by the consumerist lifestyle. The highly symbolic subject matter depicts a person at the brink of exploding.

As supplemental material of sorts to the video, Fucked Up are providing the lyrics to “Accelerate” on their website, which includes unsung passages to serve as dot connectors, easter eggs, and more.

Releasing October 5, Dose Your Dreams is currently available for pre-order as a 2-CD or 2-LP set or yellow-in-clear double Peak Vinyl. “Accelerate” follows their lead single, “Raise Your Voice Joyce,” as the steady drip feed of material from the new album continues.

Fucked Up formed in Toronto, Ontario, in 2001, and in 2002, the band released its first record, No Parasan. By 2008, the band had nearly 40 records to its name, mostly limited vinyl singles, and a third guitarist had been added to the lineup. Later that year they would release The Chemistry of Common Life, which earned the band the Polaris Music Prize, an award given to the year’s outstanding Canadian album. Dose Your Dreams is the group’s latest full-length studio album since 2014’s Glass Boys and the first new material since their 2017 Zodiac Series release Year of the Snake.
