Country music legend Loretta Lynn has released a new music video for the song “Ain’t no Time to Go” which is off her recently-released record Wouldn’t It Be Great, which came out last week via Sony. This is the second single released for the record, following “Ruby Stool.” The release of Wouldn’t It Be Great represents significant personal triumph for Lynn, who suffered a stroke last year, putting the release of the new record on hold until she could make a full recovery.
“Ain’t no Time to Go” is a classic country song that features plenty of rollicking banjo playing and fast-paced fiddle playing to compliment a strong vocal performance from Lynn. The song’s lyrics focus on acceptance and mortality, with Lynn declaring that now is not the time for her to go. The music video, directed by David McClister, alternates shots of Lynn and her band playing on a porch with a dreamy square dance.
Lynn has been a staple of the country music world ever since the early 60s, performing with artists like Willie Nelson and Conway Twitty, with whom she had an extensive professional relationship. Her most recent release before Wouldn’t It Be Great came in the form of Full Circle in 2016.
