Gary Numan’s Tour Bus Kills Elderly Man in Fatal Accident in Cleveland

Tragedy struck Cleveland, OH on Monday, September 24 when an 91 year old man was killed at the intersection of 9th Street and Superior Avenue downtown, according to News 5 Cleveland. The vehicle happened to be the tour bus of electronic legend Gary Numan, who was in town to play show at the House of Blues just a few blocks away on Euclid Avenue later that day. The performance was cancelled following the accident and refunds were offered at the point of purchase. According to Setlist.fm, the band played a show in Wilmington, Delaware earlier, the evening of the 23rd.

Numan confirmed his bus was involved in the accident in a post to Twitter. In the tweet he expresses the utter devastation felt by him and his team and sends his love to those affected by the tragic accident. It’s unclear whether or not Numan was on the bus at the time of the accident, though News 5 reports the driver was a 45-year-old man, who didn’t appear to be impaired and wasn’t arrested. An investigation is ongoing and surveillance cameras in the area will be checked.

The tour date was a part of his fall 2018 Ghost Nation tour, in support of his album Savage (Songs From A Broken World).

According to a tweet from earlier today, Numan has continued as scheduled with his show at Louisville’s Headliners. He posted an empathetic message on Twitter, explaining that he understands that as upset as he is about the death, the family of the deceased is going through something incomparable. “A lot of grown men amongst us cried tonight. This is not something we will get over quickly, if ever. Our sadness will linger for a lifetime, but this is what we do.”
