A little over a week after premiering their new single “Mad Hatter”, Avenged Sevenfold has announced that they are re-releasing the song with a higher quality copy. According to an article for the PRP, the updated version comes after complaints from fans about the tracks audio quality.
The band’s lead singer, M Shadows, addressed the muddled version of the song on Reddit. In a post on the band’s subreddit, /r/avengedsevenfold, the singer released a better version of the song and left a statement for fans.
“Mad Hatter” originally debuted on September 17 and is going to be included on the upcoming video game Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The single will be a part of an LP that features the four songs featured on the new game. The LP, titled Black Reign, was released on September 21.
This is the fourth time Avenged Sevenfold has partnered with the game’s developer to include music from the band.
The recent recording problem marks another road bump in the band’s rocky 2018. Earlier in the year, the Shadows discussed the band’s lawsuit with their former record label, Warner Bros. The band is currently signed with Capitol Records.
On top of the label dispute, Avenged Sevenfold had to cancel the North American portion of their “End of the World” tour. The band was scheduled to perform with fellow bands “Three Days Grace” and “Prophets of Rage”, but had to cancel after Shadows contracted a viral infection in his throat during the European leg of the tour. The band was forced to pull out due to fears that the infection could cause permanent damage to the vocal cords.
Thankfully, Shadows managed to provide an update for fans of September 21.
“I did two months of no talking or singing and now I need to build it all back up. No damage was done so I’m grateful for that.” Shadows said.
The band has not announced their next plans as of now, but fans can pick up Black Reign or pick up Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 when it is released on October 12.
