Willie Nelson to Hold Concert Supporting Senate Candidate Beto O’Rourke with All-Texas Lineup Featuring Leon Bridges, Lukas & Mikah Nelson and Joe Ely

Willie Nelson will be headlining a concert to rally voters together for the upcoming midterm elections in November.  Nelson was joined this Summer by John Mellencamp, Neil Young, Dave Matthews and more on tour for Farm Aid 2018, a festival supporting agriculture.  Farm Aid has been an active organization since 1985 and Nelson, Young and Mellencamp organized the first Farm Aid concert.

While he has performed in support of politicians in the past, including a concert held on the lawn of the White House for Jimmy Carter in 1980, this show will be Nelson’s first that is free to the public.  The candidate Nelson is supporting?  Democrat Beto O’Rourke.  Nelson along with a lineup of other Texas natives including Leon Bridges who released his new album Good Thing earlier this year, Joe Ely, and Nelson’s sons Lukas and Mika Nelson are performing to rally voters together to vote O’Rourke for Texas Senate.  While the show is free, it requires an RSVP via O’Rourke’s website.  The concert will be held on September 29 in Austin, Texas at the Auditorium Shores.

Leon Bridges says of the upcoming performance “I am making a quick detour on my Good Thing tour to support Beto in Austin. As a Texan, this was important for me to do. I can’t wait to join Willie and perform for my home state.”

Beto expresses a mutual appreciation;  “I am grateful to have Leon’s support. As a fellow Texan, his music has the power to bring people together, just as this campaign is doing by continuing to lead open dialogues in all 254 counties with Republicans, Democrats, Independents and non-voters alike. No PACs, no corporations, no special interests — this is about the people of Texas coming together to do something absolutely incredible.”
