Arcade Fire Shares Dancehall Inspired Video For New Song “Peter Pan”

Arcade Fire have dropped the music video for the new single “Peter Pan,” off their current album Everything Now. Shot entirely in Kingston, Jamaica, the short film is described by Jamaican filmmaker and video director Storm Saulter as a  “lo-fi teenage dancehall fairytale.” The video features dub remix of the song by Equiknoxx, a Jamaican production crew and favorite of Saulter and Arcade Fire’s Win Butler. Composer Jeremy Ashbourne also contributed music, including a dub version of Equiknoxx’s remix for the soundtrack. This is not the first time Caribbean culture has been at the forefront of Arcade Fire’s ( whose Régine Chassagne is of Haitian parentage) work. Previously, the band worked with Saulter on the visual aspects of the their 2013 album Reflektor, which they recorded part of in Port Antonio, Jamaica.

The music video is a sweet, inspired take off of the classic story, with Kingston dancehall performers Maleik Lamont and Rayana Campbell featured as the eponymous Peter and Wendy, their rhythmic tale  playing out among the streets and clubs of  Jamaica. The video includes breathtaking footage in and around Kingston, including famed weekly party Weddy Weddy Wednesdays. Check out the video for “Peter Pan” below.
