Pale Waves Plan to Record a New “More Extreme” EP in February

In an interview with Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music’s Beats 1, Pale Waves talk about a new EP they plan to release in February. In the interview, the band discusses how the track “Karl ( I Wonder What It’s Like To Die)” almost didn’t make the album. Pale Waves sat down with Wilkinson on the very day that their debut album, My Mind Makes Noises, was released. You can listen to Matt Wilkinson’s entire interview of Pale Waves here.

During the interview, vocalist Heather Baron-Gracie revealed that some songs didn’t make it onto My Mind Makes Noise, and will be part of an EP released sometime next year. She said the band has plans to begin recording in LA in February. Heather also described the EP as having a different sound than previous releases. Saying, “It’s like a more extreme version – but we’ll keep that information to ourselves!”

Heather also talked about one of the songs from their latest album, “Karl( I Wonder What It’s Like To Die)” and why it nearly didn’t make the album. A personal song written in a day about her grandfather. She said, “It was pretty terrifying. I asked my mum – because it’s her Dad. So I was like, ‘is it OK if I put this song on the album?’ I felt like I had to get permission from her.”

Heather continued, “It’s a bit difficult,especially when you are pouring your heart out that much and it’s about someone else. But I’m glad that I did it because I feel like it’s going to help a lot of people.”

Pale Waves is an indie pop quartet from Manchester, founded in 2014 when Heather Baron-Gracie and Ciara Doran, were both students studying music in college. Current members include Heather Baron-Gracie ( vocals, rhythm guitar), Ciara Doran (drums), Hugo Silvani (lead guitar) and Charlie Wood (bass, keyboards). Their debut album My Mind Makes Noises, follows thier debut EP, All The Things I Never Said, released just seven months ago.
