Kanye West announced on Twitter today that he will be releasing a new album entitled Yandhi on September 29. This is set to be the artist’s eighth studio album following Ye, which was released this June.
Yandhi’s cover art is reminiscent of the artist’s 2013 album Yeezus, containing a bare cover design with a piece of purple tape over the case rather than red tape. The sudden album announcement is also reminiscent of the project; in 2013 West announced the cover art and release date for Yeezus two weeks before it dropped.
West has been busy throughout the year producing and releasing seven track albums as part of his Wyoming series, beginning with Pusha T’s Daytona on May 25. These releases included his solo album Ye and his collaborative album with Kid Cudi Kids See Ghosts.
Earlier this month West served as the creative director for the inaugural Pornhub awards in Los Angeles, California. The artist designed statues for all of the winners and styled every outfit for each presenter that night including host Asa Akira. In addition West debuted new song with Lil Pump entitled “I Love It,” along with its accompanying music video directed by Spike Jonze at the ceremony.
UPDATE: West confirmed that the album will be released this Saturday night, one day after Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V.
