Indie label Mom + Pop Music are celebrating their 10 year anniversary at Brooklyn Steel with an incredible night of performances. Labelmates Courtney Barnett, Sleigh Bells, Neon Indian, Alice Merton, Sunflower Bean, and Tom Morello are all slated to perform on October 22. “Special guests” are still to be announced in addition to the already stacked lineup. To add the cherry on top for the evening, an after-party is being thrown with Future Classic at Good Room with a DJ set from Flume. Mom + Pop have also announced a compilation box set to be released on November 23 as part of Record Store Day’s Black Friday. This box set will consist of three LPs, featuring curated greatest hits from the label’s artists as well as covers and some rare tunes not heard before. The entire track list is available to view now and features artists like Courtney Barnett, Ingrid Michaelson, Fidlar, Tokyo Police Club, Tash Sultana, and many more. In anticipation of the celebration, Mom + Pop have released Sleigh Bells’s “Holly,” a never before released song from their 2010 Treats session that is available by pre-ordering the box set.
Mom + Pop has become a beloved label in the indie world in its 10 year career. It has made a massive splash in the music industry, signing talented and highly creative artists like Jai Wolf, Lady Lamb, Lucius, and countless more over the years. “Our ambition has been and always will be to build a collaborative label with transparency and sincere respect for our artists’ creative controls,” founder Michael Goldstone and Co-President Thaddeus Rudd said in a statement. It’s clear that the indie label is founded on celebrating the artist and the artist’s talent, allowing his or her creative voice to shine through. Their currently staked roster of artists seems as though it will only grow in the next ten years to come for Mom + Pop.
Tickets are on sale now for the 10th anniversary celebration of Mom + Pop records, and the box set is available now for pre-order.
