The legendary Cher has announced a lengthy tour for 2019 dubbed the “Here We Go Again Tour” which will hit 30 different cities. The tour kicks off on January 17 in Fort Myers, Florida and will finish on May 18 in St. Paul, Minnesota, making its way to New York City on May 2 at the Barclays Center. Cher is enlisting the help of Nile Rodgers and CHIC who will join her on tour for the entire run. The tour marks Cher’s first time in five years hitting the road on tour and will follow the release of her newest album which drops September 28 via Warner Bros. The album is titled, Dancing Queen, and features Cher’s covers of classic ABBA hits. It reflects Cher’s time spent in her role for Mamma Mia 2 and her tribute to the global phenomenon of ABBA. “The songs were harder to sing than I imagined but I’m so happy with how the music came out. I’m really excited for people to hear it. It’s a perfect time,” says Cher of the album.
In addition to her role in Mamma Mia 2 and creating her album Dancing Queen, Cher has been busy. Earlier this year, she performed a six night run in Washington DC in addition to a two night engagement at Atlantic City’s Borgata in celebration of its 15th birthday. Cher has also been involved with her ongoing Las Vegas residency titled, Classic Cher. The show celebrates the iconic pop star’s 50-year career in music, film, and television. The show began in 2017 and takes place at the Park Theater in MGM. The show has returned to Vegas through the months of May, August, October and November of this year. To top it all off, Cher is also the subject of a new musical, The Cher Show, which debuted in Chicago in June and comes to the Neil Simon Theater on Broadway this fall. The show tells the story of Cher’s life, although not in a linear way. Instead, the musical is told like a variety show as a nod to The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour. It has been given the seal of approval as Cher has been involved in the show’s development along the way. Clearly the Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Golden Globe winner shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.
