Vocalist Corey Taylor the front-man for heavy metal band Slipknot, recently told the Heavy Podcast interview that he and his other band Stone Sour have been “stockpiling songs,” for new album.  The singer also stated that he will be focusing entirely on Slipknot next year.

“We started writing new music pretty much as soon as we got on the road. We just can’t be stopped. We’re gluttons for punishment at this point,” Taylor explained during the podcast.”The cool thing is that knowing that we’ve got all this great material, we can kind of enjoy the rest as much as we can because we know when it’s time to really start ramping up the demo machine, we’re going to have all this cool stuff to listen to. There’s no pressure for us to just run right in.”

Regarding Slipknot, Taylor stated during the podcast ““Obviously, I’m going to do Slipknot next year, and it will allow the audience to miss [Stone Sour], which is the best thing in the world you can have.”

Taylor was in the midst of a tour with Stone Sour earlier this year from April to May. The band started off the tour in Jacksonville, Florida before ending it in Columbus, Ohio.

Currently the group is touring with heavy metal pioneer Ozzie Osbourne as part of the aptly named “No More Tours 2,” tour which kicked off on August 30 in Allentown, Pennsylvania before ending in Las Vegas, Nevada in October. These shows are in support of Hydrograd which came out in 2017.

Last month the band shared a music video for the track “Knievel Has Landed,”off Hydrograd Deluxe Edition that was released the same week. This video showcased some of the band’s live performances and included footage of the band backstage.

Hydrograd Deluxe Edition’s contains live recordings, B-sides and never released covers of songs from Hydrograd within its two discs. The album contained covers of Rage Against The Machine’s “Bombtrack,” Van Halen’s “Unchained” and Soundgarden’s “Outshined.”

Slipknot currently has a scheduled show in Bogota, Colombia for the country’s inaugural Knotfest, which will also feature performances by metal legends Judas Priest and thrash band Iron Reagan. This festival is going to take place at the Hipódromo de Los Andes  on October 26.

The band released their last album .5: The Gray Chapter back in October of 2014. The album ended up receiving three Grammy nominations during two different years due to their release dates: one for the single “The Negative One,” released in August, which was nominated for Best Metal Performance in 2015 and two in 2016, one for Best Rock album and one for Best Metal Performance for “Custer.”

While Taylor has been busy touring with Stone Sour and recording music with the band he has made several comments regarding Slipknot’s projects. In April he confirmed a 2019 release date for their upcoming sixth studio album.

“The guys are writing tons of music and I’ve written lyrics to almost all of it,” Taylor explained.“We’re going to start trying to put together demos here and there with the time off that I have and really try to get ahead of the curve as far as what happens next.
