Rock and roll duo Tenacious D has announced a new animated web series and album under the same title. The two projects, both named Post-Apocalypto are due this fall. The series will include six episodes and according to a press release, every episode was hand-drawn by Jack Black himself and every character will be voiced by Black and his partner in crime Gass. The series will debut on the band’s Youtube page with one episode airing every Friday and will debut new music from them. Each song will be available on all streaming platforms shortly after each episode of the series. Check out a teaser of the anticipated show below.
The album will be released on November 2nd and includes production credit from John Spiker, and featuring long-time collaborator Dave Grohl on drums. It is described as “hilarious as it is political, and as brilliant and multi-faceted as its incredible creators.”The album will be available digitally, on CD, and on translucent green vinyl. There is also a limited edition Post-Apocalypto vinyl picture disc that will only be available on the band’s online store.
The band recently announced a tour that will take place this fall, making it their first tour in five years. The tour will continue at the inaugural Cal Jam Fest in San Bernardino, CA October 6th and will stop in other cities across North America including Brooklyn, Pittsburgh, and Detroit, before concluding with a New Years gig in Las Vegas, NV December 31st.
