Anthrax Announces 30th Anniversary Edition of Album State of Euphoria for October 2018 Release

Legendary heavy metal band , Anthrax, have just announced the release date for their 30th anniversary edition of State of Euphoria, reported The PRP. One of the leading heavy metal bands to emerge in the 80s, Anthrax are set to release the anniversary album on October 5th. The deluxe edition will be available in digital and physical formats, and the 2-LP vinyl set will be available in a red and yellow limited edition version, as well as black.

The anniversary edition includes the remastered version of the original album, live performances, B- sides and demo recordings. The new edition includes the original album artwork, including the caricature drawn by Mort Drucker from Mad Magazine, and snapshots of the band. Also included in the set are liner notes, a booklet, new packaging and fan tributes. Check out the full track listing below.

According to the bands website, drummer Charlie Benante spearheaded the anniversary project. The second disc in the set allows fans to experience the band’s writing and rehearsal process, Benante commented,

“We recorded everything back then. We would sit in the rehearsal room with a little two-track machine record everything we did in rehearsal while we were putting the songs together.”
Benante added, “State of Euphoria is the album that we always felt we never got to finish properly. We wished we had had a little more time to spend on it, But, having revisited it while putting together this package, I really got to enjoy it again, it took me back to that time when everything was a whirlwind.”

State of Euphoria, their fourth album, was originally released in 1998 and featured Joey Belladonna on lead vocals. Anthrax has survived several lineup changes over the years with various musicians filling in on lead vocals including, Neil Turbin, Dan Nelson and most recently John Bush. On their previous release, 2016s For All Kings, Joey Belladonna returned as lead vocalist.

Anthrax have a couple US shows scheduled in September and October and then will embark on a European tour this fall. Find more information and tour dates here.
