Patti Smith @ Minetta Lane Theatre 9/22 – 9/24

The legendary Patti Smith has announced a three-night engagement in her New York City hometown at the Off-Broadway Minetta Lane Theatre in Greenwich Village running from September 22 through September 24. The iconic punk rocker will perform a “Words and Music” show all three nights, featuring original spoken word performances that will be tied together with music from her extensive catalog. The show has been described as what will be “a one-of-a-kind intimate portrait of [a] pioneering artist.” The performances will be unique and never-before-seen as Smith will be creating a brand new experience through original spoken word stories about her life while blending them with her music. The Minetta Lane Theatre will also provide an exceptionally intimate space, seating just under 400 people. Smith will be joined on stage by her daughter, Jesse Paris Smith, her son, Jackson Smith, and her longtime bassist and keyboard player, Tony Shanahan.

The performances come as part of a series Audible has with their home theatre, Minetta Lane. Smith’s performances will be available on Audible for those who cannot attend the live show as part of their ongoing series. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer released her latest book of poetry earlier this year, The New Jerusalem. Smith has been continually lauded throughout her career for her groundbreaking poetry, coupled with her avant-garde performances and expressive, unrestrained presence on stage. Smith’s other performances this year include benefit shows for the organization, Pathway to Paris, which her daughter co-founded. The organization works to fight climate change and highlight the importance of the Paris agreement.

Don’t miss Patti Smith’s sure to be unforgettable performances at Minetta Lane and join her for a truly unique night of poetry, music, and theatre.
