clipping. Shares New Song “Stab Him in the Throat” Off Rick and Morty Soundtrack Due Out September 2018

This past July, the widely beloved comedy cartoon Rick and Morty announced that it will be dropping an official soundtrack for the series this coming September, and the show’s infamously devoted fans are sure to be hyped. And to further fuel that fire, experimental hip hop trio clipping. has unveiled their contribution to the OST in the form of “Stab Him in the Throat.”

The track takes various sound effects from the show’s recognizable theme song and Rick’s infamous burping and slices it together to form a characteristically insane instrumental that growls underneath rapper Daveed Diggs’ vicious rhymes. That being said, the cut is far more accessible than some of the outfit’s more abrasive tracks, so fans of the show will have no problem getting into the song.

The pairing between the trio and the show feels surprisingly (or is it unsurprisingly) natural, with clipping.’s last full length Splendor & Misery actually dabbling in some sci-fi elements itself.

The rest of the soundtrack is composed mostly of the show’s original score by Ryan Elder, some pre-existing songs by artists like Mazzy Star, Belly, Blonde Redhead, and Chaos Chaos, and finally two original tracks: the clipping. contribution as well as a cut from Sub Pop labelmate Chad Van Gaalen.

The full soundtrack will be released on September 28 with a deluxe vinyl edition coming out on November 23.
