Linda Ramone, the wife of Johnny Ramone organizes an annual tribute in honor of her late husband, legendary rockstar legend, Johnny Ramone. At the event, hundreds of people gathered to watch a star-studded lineup sing Ramones cover songs. The singers were Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, Sex Pistol’s Steve Jones, Guns n’ Roses Duff McKagen, Portlandia comedian Fred Armisen and various others.
Sparking nostalgia and bringing back Ramones fever, the ad hoc group took to the stage to perform various songs. Armstrong, Jones and Armisen and so many others are longtime fans of Johnny Ramone. Armisen and Jones sing “I Can’t Make it on Time.”
The Ramones, one of the most influential punk rock bands legacy endures with class and style. Some of their greatest hits include, “Blitzkrieg Bop”, “Sheena is a Punk Rocker” and “I Want To Be Sedated.”
The Ramones started out in New York back in 1974 and toured for over 22 years. By 2014, all four of the band’s original members had died – lead singer, Joey Ramone (1951–2001), bass guitarist; Dee Dee Ramone (1951–2002), guitarist; Johnny Ramone (1948–2004) and drummer Tommy Ramone (1949–2014.) They are now mentioned in many assessments of all-time great rock music, such as number 26 in the Rolling Stone Magazine list of the “100 Greatest Artists of All Time” and number 17 in VH1’s “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.”
