Dave Davies of The Kinks Reflects on Memories in New Unreleased Song “Cradle to the Grave”

The Kinks’ Dave Davies reflects on youth and childlike memories in revival of unreleased song, “Cradle To The Grave.” The track is an unreleased song from his archival album, Decade, due October 12th.

According to Rolling Stone, this album is a sequel to 2011’s Hidden Treasures. The 2011 album explored the songwriter’s solo material from the 60s. Decade is a compilation of 13 unreleased songs from Davies’s career. The songs are pulled from 1971-1979.

The 13 new tracks are previous cuts from his first solo album, 1980’s AFL1-3603. The tracks were not simply and carelessly thrown out, they remained “under beds, in attics, in storage.” These under-wraps songs, discovered by his sons, Martin and Simon, have been properly mixed and re-mastered for this new album, Decade. The album is available for pre-order.

“I am so pleased that after all this time these tracks are being released to see the light of day,” Davies said in a recent statement. “These songs have been silently nagging at me to be recognized all these years. At last I can proudly present this album Decade to the world. I do hope you all enjoy the music.”

According to Rolling Stone, Davies plans to tour in early 2019 but he has yet to name specific times and places.
