Usually when a tribute show comes out, it is usually as a posthumous gift to a musician who passed recently. This tribute show, however, is not in memorium, but in celebration.
According to Pitchfork, an incredible tribute show for Courtney Love has been announced as part of the Basilica Hudson’s Pioneering People fundraiser which will take place in Hudson, New York. Titled, “A Tribute: Celebrating the Magic and the Power” will be an extravaganza directed by Love’s former bandmate from Hole Melissa Auf der Maur.
Hosted by Michael Stipe, the star-studded celebration will feature Chloe Sevigny, Aaron Dressner of the National, Ryan McGinley, Yelena Yemchuk, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Brandon Stosuy. The tribute will take place October 27, get your tickets here.
Unlike many fundraisers, this biannual celebration picks two influential artists in the year and sets up an incredible fundraiser celebrating all that the artist has contributed. In the past they have paid tribute to Rufus Wainwright and John Waters among many others,
When talking to Pitchfork, Auf der Maur lent some words of wisdom considering Courtney Love: “Courtney’s legacy is vital to the voice of women in our culture. The passion she brings to her life and art fuels and inspires the long fought battle for the empowerment of alternative voices as they take center stage at last!”
This tribute is definitely set to be a party to never forget, so get those tickets and party with some of music’s biggest and best voices out there.
