Fans of the legendary Japanese heavy metal band X Japan will have reason to get excited, as the band have somewhat abruptly announced a massive three-night concert series just outside of Tokyo. The shows are billed as “Three Deep Red Nights,” and according to Anime News Network will be their first large-scale shows in nearly eight years.
The last large-scale show the band put on were in 2010 at Nissan Stadium, which drew in nearly 130,000 fans. The three shows will take place September 28-30 at Makuhari Messe in the Chiba prefecture. Find tickets and more information at the official page of the concert series.
According to a tweet from the band’s drummer and frontman, Yoshiki, the group appears to anticipate 100,000 fans. While the band hasn’t been trying to fill massive venues for the better part of the last decade, that doesn’t mean they haven’t seen some huge crowds. Earlier this year the band were booked as a part of the United States’ biggest and most important music festival, Coachella. While being a slightly odd-ball booking choice for the festival, the crowds of fans that did catch their set were treated to something very different from the rest of the event.
