Deftones Reveals They Are Working on New Music

As reported by The PRP, Deftones are currently working on new music, as recent posts on Instagram have shown frontman Chino Moreno, guitarist Stephen Carpenter, and bassist Sergio Vega in rehearsal studio in the band’s hometown of Sacramento, California. With only a few concert appearances scheduled for the rest of the year, including a stop at the Aftershock Festival and the first-ever Dia De Los Deftones festival in San Diego, Deftones are focusing on putting together some new material.

The last release from Deftones came in the form of the incredible Gore, which came out in 2016. The big controversy surrounding Gore was the fact that guitarist Stephen Carpenter was not featured as a songwriter for many of the songs, creating an awkward and tense situation for the band. It appears that Carpenter is back in the fold this time, and his bludgeoning 8-string guitar playing will be back in full force as well.

Moreno has kept busy with his various side projects, releasing a solo single in the form of “Brief Exchange,” and guesting on Mike Shinoda’s solo album Post Traumatic on the song “Lift Off.”
