The frontman of Radiohead, Thom York will embark on a new US tour this winter alongside longtime Radiohead collaborator, Nigel Godrich and visual artist Tarik Barri. They will perform a series of electronic performances of songs from his solo works including The Eraser and Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes as well as Atoms for Peace’s Amok.
The upcoming tour, which is being dubbed as the “Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes U.S. Tour,” will begin on November 23rd in Philadelphia and will continue as the trio will make stops in cities such as Brooklyn, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles before concluding in Las Vegas on December 22nd. According to the press release, Oliver Coates, a cellist from London will be present as a supporting act. Scroll down for a complete list of shows.
Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes was released back in September of 2014 and was followed by Yorke, Godrich and Barri’s first tour. Throughout 2015, the three went on a trek covering UK, Europe, and Japan. The record was reissued in December of 2017 on XL Recordings, and the trio then went to make their U.S. debut performing shows in Los Angeles and Oakland as well as appearing at the Day for Night Festival in Houston.
The new tour, according to the press release, has generated praise, with Uproxx saying, “Youtube clips of the performance can’t do justice to just how breathtaking and engrossing it all was…. Yorke’s commitment to his solo material might be exactly what he wanted, allowing him to blow audiences away with a fully-realized, immersive, and often breathtaking show.” Variety commented saying, “one of the show’s many highlights was visual collaborator Tarik Barri’s gorgeous visuals that accompanied Yorke and Godrich’s heady sounds.”
Fans can purchase their tickets for these upcoming tour dates through Radiohead’s Waste website. Tickets will come available to purchase which is Friday, August 17th at 10 am EST/7am PCT/3pm UK time onwards.
Yorke’s previous solo shows saw the singer performing new songs indicating a new album might be in the horizon, some of the new songs include, “I Am A Very Rude Person,” “Saturdays,” and “The Axe.” Later this year, the Radiohead singer will make his scoring debut with the upcoming horror film, Susperia, directed by Luca Guadagnino, the man behind last year’s Academy Award-nominated, Call Me By Your Name.
