Force Metal Festival Announces 2018 Lineup Featuring System of a Down, Slayer and Danzig

Force Metal Festival is only a few months away, and today, according to Loudwire, the rock festival has released its official lineup that is stacked with the ultimate faves of the rock genre. The festival, which will take place in Teotihuacan, near Mexico City, includes performances by System of a Down, Slayer, Alice in Chains, Lamb of God and more.

The festival is going to be a must-see event for anyone who calls themselves a love of rock and metal music. Also slated to appear at this year’s event and joining the headlining bands will be acts such as Anthrax, Stone Temple Pilots, Danzig, Carcass, Dee Snider, Carcass, NOFX, Testament and Dark Funeral.

The two-day festival will start the weekend of October 6th and the 7th near the Teotihuacan Aztec pyramids, which were constructed in approximately 100 BC. This year’s event will feature four different stages scattered throughout the Teotihuacan Golf Club. It will also have campsites, amusement park games, and a food court. In previous years, the festival has had participation with international bands such as; Motörhead, Anthrax, Testament, Moonspell, Suicidal Tendencies and Haggard in 2013, Judas Priest, Overkill, Carcass, Death Angel, Witchcraft, Exhumed, Grim Reaper, Born of Osiris, Wehrmacht, Vital Remains and Snout.

Juan Carlos, the festival’s organizer, calls Force Metal, “… a family festival, for music lovers, who go because they really know and enjoy the genre, it’s a very calm and very orderly audience, we’ve never had any altercations.”

Force Fest celebrated its first edition back in 2012 with a one day format and included international bands such as Soulfly and Destruction. The following year, the festival reached all expectations featuring bands such as Motorhead, Anthrax, and Testament with over 19,000 attendees. During its 2015 run, the festival moved to Guadalajara City. The year that followed, it was repeated in the same venue, in the same city with more than 15 thousand ticketholders. That year had performances by bands like P.O.D., Sepultura and more. Now, three years later, the rock and metal fest returns to its roots with a two-day format and a killer lineup.

System of a Down returning big time as 2018 marks their first string of US shows since their concert in October of 2015. The Armenian-American rock band plans to make heads bang at this year’s Force Fest. The band posted on their twitter post earlier this week announcing their upcoming festival date.

Trash metal band, Slayer, is also slated to appear. This performance may be their final as a band, recently they released a video announcing their retirement. Slayer is currently on their farewell tour along with Lamb Of God, Anthrax, Testament, and Behemoth. They will be wrapping it up later this month.
