The new video from the hardcore punks is the continuation of last year’s original version of “Church of the Motherfuckers.” The foursome from South California dropped a surprise new self-titled EP in June, less than a year after there debut album of the same name. The Death Cross EP contains two new songs and two remixed songs. The new video for the “Church Of The Motherfuckers” remix carries on with the same themes as it’s predecessor; religion and violence. However, the violence is subtler and there’s less bloodshed in the new video. Shot in black and white and directed by Israel Henshaw and Jay Strickland, the video follows a young girl as she enacts revenge on a priest while a statue of the Virgin Mary weeps blood. Images of burning bibles and televangelists are sprinkled throughout. Watch the video below.
“This is meant to be an extension to the original “Church Of The Motherfuckers” video,” explains bassist Justin Pearson “Perhaps an interpretation but a realistic view of organized religion in the real world, and in modern times, which is unfortunate. Are we all free in this world? This is Jesus Christ, this is religion.”
Dead Cross formed in 2015 and consists of vocalist Mike Patton (Faith No More), drummer Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies), guitarist Mike Crain (Retox) and bassist Justin Pearson (Retox). The band released their self-titled debut album in August last year and embarked on their first tour, shortly after. Last year the band had to cancel their August 21st LA performance because of Patton’s skateboard accident. He sustained minor injuries and they played the show the following night. Prior to that, on August 15, members of the band were briefly place in police custody while officers searched their tour bus. Dead Cross released a statement regarding the incident, but have not further commented under advice from their attorneys. Their performance for that evening went on as scheduled.
