TV on the Radio @ Knockdown Center 9/20

TV on the Radio have announced a special one-night only performance of their third album, Dear Science, in celebration of its tenth anniversary. The Brooklyn natives will play the album in its entirety at the Knockdown Center in Queens. Of the anniversary show, lead singer Tunde Adebimpe said in a press release, “For various reasons this record means a LOT to us and we’re thrilled have a chance to play it in its entirety, in New York, nonetheless. I’d say it’s gonna be a special night.” Upon its release in 2008, Dear Science met wide critical acclaim. It was dubbed best album of 2008 by The Guardian and voted #1 by fans in Pitchfork’s Reader’s Poll and ranked as #1 in the Village Voice’s Pazz and Jop poll.

The praise for Dear Science is among the many accolades and career-defining moments TV on the Radio have received and experienced during their almost 20 year career. Their debut album, Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes, welcomed in the 2004 Shortlist Music Prize which was followed up by Spin naming their sophomore album, Return to Cookie Mountain, album of the year in 2006. The second album featured incredible collaborators such asDavid Bowie, Omega Moon, and Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Dear Science was followed-up by Nine Types of Light in 2011 which ushered in a Grammy nomination for the band. Their most recent album, Seeds, was released in 2014, three years after the passing of bassist, Gerard Smith. Throughout the years, TV on the Radio continues to stun audiences, proving themselves as innovators in blending eclectic sounds and styles while consistently remaining one of the most acclaimed bands of the former and current decades.

Tickets for the Dear Science anniversary show go on sale Friday, August 3 at noon. It is bound to be a special night for both the band and fans to celebrate TV on the Radio’s incredible career in their hometown of New York City.
