English musician, Miles Kane, has premiered a punchy new video for the third single off his latest album Coup De Grace. The new album is scheduled for release on August 10th, via Virgin EMI.
Inspired by T-Rex, the new single was co-written with British recording artist Jamie T and is quickly gaining popularity at Kane’s live performances. Coup De Grace is Kane’s sophomore solo album after Don’t Forget Who You Are, released in 2013. Produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent), much of the album was co-written with Jamie T with help from singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey on the track “Loaded”.
The new video was directed by Brook Linder and features WWE wrestler Finn Bálor in a grisly fist fight with Kane. The entire video is shot in black and white and begins with Kane running down a hallway from an unseen assailant. As he runs into an apartment, Kane bars the door only to have it kicked in by Bâlor and the scuffle ensues. Watch the video below.
“I loved every minute making this video with my good friend and wrestling hero Finn Bálor and directing genius Brook Linder,” says Miles. “ I felt like I was in a Bond movie. “Cry on my Guitar” is the prequel to my video “Loaded”. I always wanted to make videos that told a story, like a mini-series or movie.”
“The very moment I met Miles Kane I wanted to see him thrown through a wall,” says Linder. “We wanted to have a crack at a Bond film – no easy task. I knew he could do it. Finn’s talent and skill set the bar extremely high, and Miles was up for the challenge. There’s something really honest and almost vulnerable about Miles. You can hear it on the album and you can feel it being around him- there’s a real intensity to his natural state. Just flip on the camera and it’s right there.”
Kane is the former frontman of The Rascals and current co-frontman of The Last Shadow Puppets with Alex Turner of Artic Monkeys. Kane and Turner formed a partnership after playing together backstage while The Rascals toured with Artic Monkeys. The Last Shadow Puppets have released two full length albums that were well received by critics. Their latest, Everything You’ve Come To Expect, was released in 2015.
According to NME, in 2008, while the duo performed at one of their early shows at Glastonbury, the legendary Jack White joined them on stage for a quick guitar solo.
