Yoko Ono Announces Weekly Premiere Series to Coincide with New LP Warzone For October 2018 Release

Yoko Ono, after 50 years and 20 albums, is not done making music. Warzone is her latest release and this album is more unique and different than anything that anyone has ever done. The album is set to be released in October 2018.

Yoko travels back in time to songs that she has written over the years. The lyrics still relevant, all she has had to do is reimagine and reinvent the sound that she wants. Ono says of her most recent work, “The world is so messed up. Things are very difficult for everybody. It’s a warzone that we are living in…I like to create things in a new way. Every day things change.” Just like a warzone, she is reshaping the landscape of music today.

The tracks on the album are very stripped down leaving more room for just Ono’s vocals and lyrics. With little room for flashy beats and heavy bass lines, Ono has created a minimalist feel to her music. Some of the tracks on the album act as somber warnings and even uplifting encouragement. But her wisdom, care, courage, and concern are the things that stand out the most with this new music. One of her most famous lines also rings true in this album, “Now Or Never” (1971) with one of her most famous and inspiring lines: “[a] Dream you dream alone is only a dream, but dream we dream together is reality.”

However, this is not the end of her career. At 85 years old, she is already planning out her next album.
