Fucked Up Sign With Merge Records and Announce New Album Dose Your Dreams for October 2018 Release

Fucked Up have signed to Merge Records and announced their upcoming double album, Dose Your Dreams, will be released October 5.

The news doesn’t come as a huge surprise. Recently, guitarist Mike Haliechuk aka 10,000 Marbles, announced the band’s departure from Matador, simply saying, “it’s over,” when asked during an interview whether the group’s time with the label had come to a close.

In addition to announcing their new partnership with Merge and their new double album, Fucked Up has released their lead single, “Raise Your Voice Joyce,” and a forthcoming tour, which kicks off August 3 in London, UK, and runs through December 12 in Vancouver, BC.

The new album marks the follow-up to Glass Boys (2014) and features a solid 18 tracks. According to Consequence of Sound, Via Facebook, Fucked Up says of the release, “This record took two years to make. It has 18 songs, its long, its angry and its beautiful and all that shit.”

Owen Pallet (Arcade Fire) says of the new record, “I was sent an unfinished version of Dose Your Dreams so that I might contribute string parts. I couldn’t stop listening to the rough mixes I received. A friend asked me how the record was. I replied, ‘My God, Fucked Up have made their Screamadelica.’

He goes on to say, “And psych-rock-groove it is. The drums mixed wide, propensity for drones, for delay pedal, for repetition, groove. The politics and aesthetics of hardcore married to an ‘open format’ approach to genre. Elements of doo-wop, krautrock, groove, digital hardcore.”
